In her work Ted Oonk highlights and questions the way we deal with matters that deviate from the norm. The video piece 'Soft' focusses on the touch and being touched by the unknown. The concept of this work was born by the idea that by eliminating everything that doesn't meet our standards nowadays the confrontation with 'the other' will disappear. In this case the focus lies on the actual physical confrontation, our basic need for connection and physical contact. The slow movements in the video allow you to carefully watch a first physical encounter between two people. Do we know how to cope with what is as fundamentally different as us?
